Adonara is an island located east of Flores in the Solor Archipelago, East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia.
To the east of Adonara lies Lembata Island, formerly known as Lomblen. Adonara is the highest of the islands of Solor archipelago, reaching an altitude of 1,659 metres. The administrative centre of Adonara is the harbour town of Waiwerang.
Mekko Island in eastern part of Adonara is actually a sandbar that will look small when the water is in pairs. The name Mekko comes from the name of the village that is located not far from this small island.
Adonara can be reached by airplane from Jakarta or Denpasar (Bali) to Kupang, then by airplane or ferry to Larantuka, then by boat.
